PSG midfielder Clement Chantome

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has identified Paris St Germain midfielder Clement Chantome as a potential replacement for Marouane Fellaini according The Express.

Fellaini’s future at Goodison Park has been under constant speculation, with Arsenal reportedly interested in the Belgian midfielder, although they are reluctant to meet the club’s £23million asking price.

It appears however the club have a plan in place should Fellaini depart, having identified PSG’s Chantome as a replacement according to reports in France.

It is understood Chantome fits the profile of player Roberto Martinez is looking for, as he looks to establish his own brand of football at Goodison Park this season.

Naturally the club are desperate to hang onto Fellaini, although the former Wigan manager is aware the considerable transfer fee the club would be set to recieve for the Belgian would help in his attempt to bring his own players to the club.

Martinez has already completed the signings of former Wigan trio, striker Arouna Kone, defender Antolin Alcaraz and goalkeeper Joel Robles.

Chantome clocked up 34 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season, netting just a single goal.
