Gerard Deulofou – A potential ‘loan hit’ for Everton?

Gerard Deulofou could be the latest sensation to come off the production line of Barcelona’s infamous academy. The 19 year old was one of Barcelona B’s best performers last year, and has signed a season long loan at Everton.

Barcelona’s incredible success at producing world class players not only strengthens the core of their team week in week out. In Deulofou’s case, if he is to progress into the world class player many tip him to be, a loan move is his best option. Where better for Deulofou than Everton? Roberto Martinez is keen to continue the brand of football he started at Swansea and Wigan-which originates in Pep Guardiola’s philosophy that Barcelona undertake in every match.

For Everton, where budgets are always tight, the man from Riudarenes is an ideal man to bring in. He would get the opportunity to thrive under a fellow Spaniard at the helm and provide much needed cover for the ageing Steven Pienaar. Deulofou may also feel he will get more playing time for the toffees making them a better option for Barcelona to loan to.
