Sir Alex Ferguson believes Everton will face major difficulties when David Moyes eventually leaves Goodison Park.

SpMoyeseaking in a press conference ahead of Everton’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday, Ferguson said “It’s obviously a concern for Everton.”

“It would be a big blow because he’s a good quality manager.”

Moyes has spent almost 11 years with the Toffee’s and is widely regarded as one of the best managers in the Premier League.

With his contract due to expire in the summer, the Scot has been linked with a host of top jobs including Manchester United should Ferguson decide to retire.

Understandably, chairman Bill Kenwright is keen to keep Moyes on Merseyside, and the chances are, that is where the Scot will stay for the time being.

Ferguson has long been both a friend as well as admirer of Moyes and added “His ability is obvious.”

“He’s had 10 years at Everton – you don’t survive 10 years in this game without making progress.”

The bond between Ferguson and Moyes is strong however when Everton and United take to the field this weekend both will be gunning for important wins for their side.

Should Everton pull of a famous win come Sunday, it would be the first time that they’ve ever done the double over Manchester United in the league.

A win would, depending on results elsewhere, also see the Toffee’s climb into the top four.
